Raingutter Regatta

What:  Raingutter Regatta - Pack Event
Who: Scouts
When: July 28th 3pm - 5:30pm
Where: Chestnut Branch Pavilion
Cost:   $10 per family

A fun and exciting event that the Cub Scouts look forward to each year is the Raingutter Regatta.  It’s the brother of the Pinewood Derby!  With each ticket, a scout will receive a simple kit which has everything a scout needs to build an official Raingutter Regatta boat.  All the supplies - boats, sandpaper, paint, brushes, etc will be supplied by the back.

Each scout (with help from an adult, if needed) will assemble the boat and can modify the outriggers that help the boat move though the water.  The boat can be painted and decorated however the scout sees fit, but nothing can be added to make the boat longer than what was in the original kit and all parts from the kit must be used.

While the paint is drying, we will have snacks and drinks, as well as fun filled water games, for the scouts to cool off and have a blast.

The scouts are then paired into heats and the race begins.  To move the boat down the the track, the scout is only allowed to blow (with or without straws) into the sail of the boat.  The scout is not allowed to touch the boat with their hands.  The first boat down the track wins the heat.

We will have traditional 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers.
