Community Fossil Dig Day Event
What: 2nd Annual Community Fossil Dig Day Who: Everyone When: Saturday, September 28th (rain date Sunday, September 29th) Cost: Free
This event is RSVP ONLY. There will be four two-hour time slots at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm. Pack 45 has secured 100 slots at 2pm. We need to submit the name of ALL attendees before August 18th. If you would like to attend with the pack, please contact to your Den Leader and RSVP as soon as you can. Please to not email or RSVP with Mantua Township directly if you have RSVPed with your den leader.
If you cannot attend with the pack at 2pm but still wish to go to the event at some other time, please RSVP with the Township directly. Space is very limited and will be first come, first served.
The event will last 90 minutes and includes: - Guests will get to see 65 million year old fossils on display that were discovered at Inversand
- Dr. Ken Lacovara, on site Paleontologist from Drexel University, will highlight the ancient history of this fossil site and Drexel’s ongoing fossil excavation at Inversand
- Guests will get a tour of the fossil excavation area;
- Guests will be invited to dig for fossils in a designated fossil area-with on site Paleontologist approval some fossils may be taken home
- Fossil coloring station is available on site for all ages
We will be the guests of the Inversand Company. They own the land where the site is located.
Please follow the Leave No Trace Guidelines. Dig only in the area they will have designated.
